"My name is Jackie Roninson" Scot Simon
Jackie Robinson is a ' sports icon and a symbol of the struggle for civil rights. First African American to play in the Major Leagues with the shirt of the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, Robinson faced the hostility of peers, reluctant to accept the presence of a player of color, and is often subject to insults from the fans and the Dodgers opposing fans. Strong the support of Branch Rickey, the team president which has strongly supported its passage by the Negro Leagues, and some companions, the player stands at the entrance and open the way for other African Americans in the top of baseball. The courage of Robinson forces the America of those years to deal with the issue of race and even today, in honor of this great champion, no player wears jersey number 42, the number of Jackie Robinson. Like every year, April 15 America celebrates Jackie Robinson Day, April 15, 1947 is the day of onset of Robinson in the Major Leagues.
